NESsT Romania Foundation
An international, nongovernmental organisation, NESsT develops sustainable social enterprises that solve critical social problems in emerging market economies. The organization supports enterprises with innovative business models that tackle the cycle of poverty, providing access to technology, dignified jobs and income for the most vulnerable communities.
Founded in 2007, NESsT Romania Foundation was one of the first entities to introduce the social enterprise concept in the country. Since then, over 100 Romanian social enterprises entered NESsT’s assistance program and 28 new social business were launched with NESsT’s support. The social enterprises benefit from:
- financial investments – seed capital in the form of grants and soft loans
- capacity support – business training to increase entrepreneurial and management skills; and
- social capital – access to corporate professionals providing pro-bono consulting support.
